    [ Libraness ]

Yesterday and Tommorrow's Shells (Tiger Style)

Libraness is the long awaited new project from Ash Bowie of Polvo and Helium fame, but Yesterday puts a spin on Bowie's past efforts. Yes, Bowie still employs the exotic instrumentation, odd tunings and middle eastern scales that was cornerstone of Polvo. And yes, their are touches of the medieval prog rock that found it's way into later period Helium, but Bowie has added a few new tricks to his bag. Recorded basically on a four track, Yesterday's songs sound like Bowie just wanted to have some fun and cut out the pressures associated with being in a band. With his boyish voice and multi-instrumentmental ability Bowie shows he can write catchy tunes("Face on Backwards" ,"Totempole") as well as develop his love of eastern music.
